about

Some time ago, during a period after his former crew SBP disbanded and before he joined Shadow of the Locust, Samuel Ox (aka Bufa) was thinking of giving up emceeing. Life and it's demands forced him to reevaluate what was a priority and what wasn't. Hiphop simply was not at the top of the list of importances like it used to be when he was younger. Making a living, married life and one day becoming a father were on the forefront of his mind. As new seasons and perspectives emerged, Sam was growing tired. Tired of the current condition of mainstream hiphop's image and tired of dealing with the repetitive cycle of his own personal character flaws which were blatantly apparent to him. A decision was made to work out all these topics that wore heavy on his brain the only way he knew how: in rhyme form. Sam called upon his friend Giver One, scrounged up whatever beats he could, got out pen and pad and attempted to make music one last time. With that the "Commoner Crowns" album was born. Soon after the release of this project Sam Ox was inducted into the Shadow Locust crew
